About 3/32" thicker than the tuners require. |

As the other guys said, it is really determined by the tuners. If you have a jig for drilling the holes keep in mind that it may be designed to centre the holes on a certain thickness of headstock. Check to make sure your jig will drill the holes on centre for whatever thickness you end up using. |

I use 3/4", the same as Martin. |

Martin slotted HS's including veneer are .79" +\- a couple .000 |

Quote: Martin slotted HS's including veneer are .79" +\- a couple .000 Prewar Martins are 3/4". I am not all that interested in anything Martin has made since....particularly the ugly squarish slotted headstocks they used in the 1950's, 1960's and 1970's. They are too wide near the nut. |

OK -- I just measure a few of the brand new "A" quality replacements sitting on the shelf in our shop thought that was pretty accurate information. |
